Low cost Housing

The house building project is at present focused primarily on helping with housing for small orphan families where young children in their teens or younger are now responsible for the care of their brothers and sisters. Their parents may have left them with a shack some years ago many of which no longer work as a liveable shelter. Our commitment is wherever possible to provide new for old or help repair their homes and make them watertight. We want to involve them in the project as much as possible and also making their new homes moveable as often the government requires them to shift from a plot of land and moveable homes like the one pictured here can be a long term solution for them wherever they must go. The cost: for a small movable home is R4500 (south African Rand = about £325 or 650 US Dollars) to replace a roof that leaks will cost only R1500. We are excited as the more funds we have in, the more families will be helped and see tangibly the love of God in action.

Food and clothing
We believe in demonstrating the two handed gospel: On one hand telling them that God loves them so much that He sent His son to save them from being separated from Him, and with the other hand demonstrating this love with acts of kindness and mercy. Some of the most significant needs that children feel are a great lack of good food and clothing. When shops and concerned supporters donate clothing, toiletries and books we know exactly where to take them. Jesus said we will always have the poor with us and we always have the joy of ministering to these poor ones that our God says are His own treasures. Whenever we see them we love to bring fresh fruit and like to make sure that some of the nutrients that their diets often miss are filled in.


Worship & Bible Teaching
Life has told these children they are worthless. People and even parents have said they are good for nothing, they often think they aren’t worth loving and mistrust love when it comes as “why would you love me? you must want something!” But God treasures their lives, and values their love and praises. We have seen children open up like flowers in the sun as they realise that they have something to bring to God that is of value to Him, it is such an awesome gift to give the knowledge of your own amazing worth to God. When the children come together to have fun and worship we also love to share the amazing news of what Jesus has done with dramas, bible stories, powerful testimonies and together in small group study times. Face painting, dances and games make these times that 100s of children love to come to and numbers can even get into the thousands at Christmas time. Praise God!


Education & Training
Every week we visit schools and take classes. Education is so important and many of the poorest are denied this basic need. For just R400 that’s £30 or $60 a child can be sent to school for a year. Education is another step in a young life growing, unemployment is high though, and an area we are seeking to grow in is training and finance for small business with micro loans backed up by the all important business and financial stewardship training. Our desire in all of the work we do is to help these young lives grow into their full potential and we believe that helping them develop their skills is a worthy investment for their future and the future of those their lives will touch.
