Ministry History
Laimon Ncube was drawn to ministry with children when he saw the need in some communities: in many townships most struggle to get food, shelter and clothing and many are forced to resort to prostitution to survive, so AIDS and other diseases are rampant. Laimon is a full time worker with Children In Need Africa and has been working in partnership with Sinethemba ministries.
Sinethemba: “we have hope”: About four years ago a Korean pastor, named Pastor Hern, started Sinethemba ministries: one in Zwelethemba community and another in De Doorns community, both close to Worcester, South Africa. The main ministry was providing food through a soup kitchen, until 2004 when Laimon joined Pastor Han and they began worship and Bible study sessions with the children of both communities. In Zwelethemba approximately 200 children between the ages of 2 and 15 are impacted by the ministry. They come once a week to a gym where they can join in worship, receive teaching and the older children can do Bible studies.
In De Doorns the ministry is done through the school, working with grades 7 and 8, again these children get the chance to worship and study the Bible.
In September 2007 the first Children In Need focus Discipleship Training School started at YWAM Worcester, South Africa. With the weekly outreach and the 2 month outreach phase Laimon hopes that a new ministry reaching out to children in all of Africa will begin and be continued by further DTS students.Longterm Laimon’s dream is to create a safe environment for the children of his home country of Zimbabwe, but for now he is called to working with the forgotten children of South Africa. He believes with any work of this kind you should start small and God will bless what you do.
